JOB OVERVIEW
Queensland Health is hiring a Registered Nurse (Day Surgery) to join the Perioperative Unit at Gladstone Hospital. This is a permanent part-time position for a qualified nurse who enjoys working in a fast-paced surgical environment.
The successful candidate will work across Day Surgery, the Pre-Anaesthetic Clinic, and the Central Sterilising Services Department (CSSD). This role provides a great opportunity to build perioperative nursing experience while supporting patients before, during, and after surgical procedures.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
β’ Deliver safe and compassionate nursing care throughout the patient journey
β’ Conduct patient assessments and admissions before surgery
β’ Prepare patients for day surgery procedures
β’ Monitor patient recovery following surgical procedures
β’ Coordinate safe and effective patient discharge processes
β’ Provide education on wound care, medications, and follow-up appointments
β’ Work closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams
β’ Support quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
β’ Provide leadership and guidance to nursing colleagues
β’ Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation
JOB REQUIREMENTS
β’ Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
β’ Strong clinical assessment and patient care skills
β’ Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
