JOB OVERVIEW
Mshel Construction is currently hiring a Structural Design Engineer to join its engineering team in Abuja. This is a full-time onsite role for experienced professionals with strong knowledge of structural engineering and building design.
The company is looking for candidates who can analyze, design, and prepare structural systems for building and infrastructure projects. The role is suitable for engineers who have experience working on construction projects and understand structural design principles.
The selected candidate will work closely with architects, civil engineers, MEP teams, project managers, and construction teams to ensure that projects are safe, functional, and properly designed.
Applicants must have experience using structural design software such as ETABS, SAP2000, or RAM Structural System. Candidates should also understand building codes, construction materials, and structural calculations.
This position is ideal for professionals who can solve technical problems, communicate well with team members, and manage structural design tasks effectively. The company is also interested in candidates with knowledge of BIM software, CAD drafting, and 3D modeling tools.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform structural analysis for building and infrastructure projects
- Prepare structural calculations and engineering designs
- Design structural systems and components for construction projects
- Develop structural plans, drawings, and specifications
- Ensure all designs follow building codes and engineering standards
- Use ETABS, SAP2000, or RAM Structural System for design work
- Analyze complex structural systems and provide safe solutions
- Work with architectural, civil, and MEP teams during project development
- Support the integration of structural elements into project designs
- Review structural shop drawings from contractors and fabricators
- Validate technical submissions and structural documents
- Resolve structural design issues during project execution
- Communicate with project managers, clients, and construction teams
- Provide technical support when needed
- Stay updated on industry standards and engineering practices
- Support improvements in design processes and technical systems
- Ensure project work is completed accurately and on time
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years experience in structural design
- Experience working on building or infrastructure projects
- Good understanding of structural engineering principles
- Strong knowledge of load calculations and structural detailing
- Ability to use ETABS, SAP2000, or RAM Structural System
- Knowledge of building codes and engineering standards
- Understanding of construction materials and methods
- Professional Engineering license is an advantage
- Ability to obtain a P.E. license within a reasonable timeframe
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work with different project stakeholders
- Experience with BIM software and CAD drafting
- Knowledge of 3D modeling tools is preferred
- Ability to manage technical tasks effectively
- Attention to detail and accuracy in engineering work
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Good organizational and reporting skills
